Blank Pages

He who was seated on the throne said, “Look! I am making all things new.” Then He said to me, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.”

Revelation 21:5 MEV

We all have our chances to start anew. As we choose to close the book of yesterday and begin to open a new chapter, God will surely fill those blank pages with stories that will overshadow the past. I love to write journals and devotionals. And every time I have a new Notebook to write on, I get so excited thinking that I can begin with a clean slate and put the old one on the shelf. The same way goes whenever we have to reset the months and weeks back to one. It’s as if we’re given another journal so that we can write a different story from last year. Every time we get to celebrate New Year’s Eve, we are in that moment where we get to decide whether we’ll leave the old to embrace the future or remain stuck–clinging to what’s behind.

It’s exciting to witness new things come to life, new memories to create and new hope to arise. I believe God is the God who loves to make all things New. He doesn’t dwell on the past nor get limited by it. He’s fond of doing new stories and miracles in each of our lives. He doesn’t want to rewrite the same thing all over again. That’s why God puts all of them on the history list so that He can surprise us with what He has in store. He’s not the God of the relics but He’s the God of New Beginnings.

For this same reason, Christ told us in Revelations 21:5 to watch Him make all things new. He wants us to expect for something we have not seen or experienced before. He wants us to write down what He’s about to do and testify His goodness. I write so that I can share God’s faithfulness and so that people will know that there is a Father in heaven that loves and cares for us.

We may always find it hard to let go of what was behind but as soon as we take courage to do so, expect God to make new things in your life. He can turn your sorrows to joy, your mourning to dancing, your ashes to beauty–giving you another reason to be grateful about life. It doesn’t matter how your 2017 was. God can give you a much better year this 2018. Believe for new miracles, for answered prayers, for grace and love to chase after you. Believe that God is with you in every battle you are to face this year. He will never leave you and He will make sure that you finish strong this 2018–accomplishing what you are meant to do. You are blessed and highly favored. This is your chance to start over again. Don’t let pain, regrets nor fear hold you back. Be brave and face this brand new year believing that God is making all things new.

Sincerely,

Abby Bern
