We all know that the Grave symbolizes death and loss. It’s the last place anybody would want to be at since it reminds us of what pain and grief feel like. But one of the most unforgettable moments in my Israel Trip was when I get to visit Golgotha (Skull Hill) where Jesus was crucified and beside it was the Garden Tomb where He was laid to rest after dying at the Cross.
John 19:41-42
41 Near the place where Jesus was crucified was a garden, and in the garden there was a new tomb where no one had yet been laid to rest. 42 And because the Sabbath was approaching, and the tomb was nearby, that’s where they laid the body of Jesus.

To get to enter and see that the tomb was empty reminded me of how real and powerful my Savior is. Jesus, who raised Lazarus from the grave actually conquered death himself and did not fail to rise from the deepest grave just as He promised. He not only accomplished His mission to save the world by dying on the cross but He also fulfilled it by showing that death has no power over Him.
I will never forget that moment we get to sing to the grave. We get to worship beside the Tomb where no one was laid. And Knowing that it was empty gives us the assurance that the God we believe in is alive and true.

It was such a powerful moment when we get to simply declare this lyrics over and over again:
“Death could not hold You. The Veil tore before You. You silence the Boast of Sin and Grave. The Heavens are roaring. The praise of your Glory, For You are raised to life again. You have No Rival, You have No Equal. Now and forever God You reign. For Yours is the Kingdom. Yours is the Glory. Yours is the Name above All Names.”
Singing to the grave felt like we were telling the enemy that his schemes of silencing the Messiah didn’t succeed. We were telling the grave, “Shame on You death. My God is greater. No one can stop His Salvation. No one can put an end to His love for His people. If my God was able to put an end to death, He can put an end to all the fears, worries, sorrows, troubles, diseases and sins.” And as we were worshipping, the rest of the people in the garden tomb–strangers and pilgrims from different places, started to join us in singing and celebrating that Jesus is alive. It was such a heaven like moment where different nationalities came together to worship the God who defeated death. At that moment, we felt breakthrough and such confidence came into our hearts knowing that we are victorious in Christ.
What is it in your life that seems to be dead? Is there a situation that seems hopeless? Is there a loss in your life that you need to overcome? I pray that you get to experience the same power that raised Jesus from the grave. I pray that God would fill your hearts with hope knowing that He is able to bring restoration, life, and strength.
If Jesus cannot be silenced by being pierced and buried, then nothing can ever stop Him from saving us against the plans of the enemy. The fulfillment of His promises is unstoppable. He will never fail to conquer whatever struggles you are going through. Nothing is too difficult for Jesus. He is able to make the impossible, possible. Stay in faith and continue to believe that the reason He conquered the grave is to show you that He is not limited by life nor death. He is able to work beyond human capacities. Jesus is God and He will be God as He carries out His great plans for your life. Sing to your grave–your pain, your loss, your worries, your fear, your doubts, your situation. Declare that we’ve got the victory because the Lord Jesus Christ is alive.
1 Corinthians 15: 54-57
Death is swallowed up by a triumphant victory![an]
55 So death, tell me, where is your victory?
Tell me death, where is your sting?[ao]56 It is sin that gives death its sting and the law that gives sin its power.[ap] 57 But we thank God[aq] for giving us the victory as conquerors through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One.
Sincerely,
Abby Bern
